My order was completely off. I was star struck AFTER I google stalked Kat. I’ve not known her long, but I look forward to every one of our lunch dates. Plus she’s been bit by the entrepreneurial bug, and is doing something about it. And I’m joining the club. Admittedly, she has a pretty spectacular modeling resume. My goodness, to imagine I got to take direction from her. OOO WEEE. All she had to do was say dance, and I wiggled.
Check out Kat and her line of cashmeeeeere on her shop. This birdy was as soft as it looks.
New York chillin is what I call it. When the last call for sunlight sounds, and feels, like heaven. And running my mouth with the sis gets me back into a groove. In my happy blues, thanking God for the 95% chance of a coffee shop on the next block.
He delivers every time…
Blouse: gift from my Grandma
Leather Jacket: JCrew
Trousers, Boots: On loan from my sister
I’ve been cooped up in my home for the last few weeks pounding away at a smoking sewing machine. Literally smoking. There’s a reason why industrial machines exist.
My first trunk show is this week, Thursday to be exact, and the pressure’s on. Not stress… Presssssure. Plus, I’m loving every minute! Even better, I finally ventured out in actual clothing after wearing the same black tights, blouse and leather jacket for goodness knows how long. Yes, I’ve tossed them into the dirty clothes bin. Time, and maybe even a little sound judgement, fly by when you’re having fun.
When I finally came up for air, the husband and I ran out to snap me in my little red or burnt [insert color] dress. It’s not exactly red, but I can’t remember how my mother described it. Freezing, we jumped in the car, drove like two hungry maniacs to a friend’s, and refueled on vegetable tomato soup, Havarti & cheddar grilled cheese sandwiches, and loads of laughs. We need a personal chef BAD. Who’s willing to donate their time. haha
Dress: Anthropologie, a lovely gift from the people who love me
Shirt: Clothing swap find
Boot: Miss Sixty
By the way, please spread the word about the Trunk Show. And if you’re in NY this week, I hope to see you there:
Date: Thur, Feb. 16
Locale: Ehvonnae | 145 Front St. Unit B, Brooklyn, NY
How ironic: I go to my grandmother’s to help her clean out her closet only to bring a third of it to my home. Why? Because she REALLY wants me to have it. OK, and yes, it is true I have an affinity for old clothing. At this rate, I’ll become her public storage unit by the end of the month. NOT GOOD!
This old sweater is one of her gifts to me. I’m not a rose print (or whatever flower it is) kind of girl but my grandmother put some kind of spell on me that made me WEAR this thing. With peace signs in hand I enjoyed every minute of it.
I may need an intervention. Soon. Not just yet. I’ll let you know.
Thank you Erica for the lovely shots. You are one of a kind.
Sweater: An old Suzy Phillips
Jeans : JCrew
Earrings: I made them. They are not in my shop yet, but stay tuned.
Life just ‘plus one-d’ me another year and increased the expectation that I need to be established, mature, and graceful. My birthday is sandwiched between Christmas and the New Year, so there’s never much to do. haha. You would think the opposite to be true. Now that I’m older than I was last week, I realized I can never go back; there’s no way to press pause. If I had that power, I may still be 12. Who knows.
I’m sure I look really mature acting in these photos. I never want to take myself too seriously. My sister and I played in a parking lot with Erika who also captured the moment. Later, we dusted off the old PS2 and rapped to PaRappa the Rapper with my husband.
Thank you Erika for capturing the day.
