This is part III of the Velvet Dress to Holiday DIY Guide. Read Part II – The Gift Adornment.
Unfortunately I don’t have the pleasure to work in Corporate America. So at this time of year I cross my fingers hoping for an invitation to someone’s company Christmas party. They usually have tons of great food, can afford a REAL DJ, and come with photobooths.
If and when I have the pleasure of attending one, I’ll take my new velvet bows with me. They are versatile, and so cute on. Here are just a few examples of what you can do. Wear one on the front of a blouse or dress, the tops of your shoes, or even the backs of your heels. Simply secure with pins or closed bobby pins. If you have more suggestions, I’d love to see them.
Find the tutorial after the jump.
I’m wearing:
Dress: H&M
Pumps: JCrew
You will need:
1. A rectangular piece of velvet about 6in x 4in. My piece is cut from the sleeves of the dress in part II.
2. Glue OR Needle & Thread (hot glue, fabric glue, etc.)
Step 1: Bring in exterior points of rectangle so they meet in the center.
Step 2: Secure fabric with glue OR with a simple stitch.
Step 3: Flip fabric over and pinch the middle. Then bring in sides to form three humps. Secure with glue or a stitch and you’re done!
